1Click Drinks

A web service that completely automates late-night drinking logistics—from selecting venues to calling and booking a table—with a single click.

Born from the sheer agony of being "izakaya refugees"—wandering the streets on a Friday night hunting for an open bar for an after-party. If all you want is a drink, you shouldn't have to stress over comparing menus or reading reviews. The app pulls candidate venues solely based on your group size and location, then uses the Twilio API to have a voice bot ring bars in the area one by one until a table is secured.

From "Let's Drink!" to "Cheers!" in One Click

The biggest hurdle on weekend nights is the emotional friction of calling venue after venue, only to be rejected repeatedly because they're full. 1Click Drinks offloads all that awkward grunt work to an automated bot:

1. One-Click Booking: Simply select your group size and hit the button. To prevent accidental taps, we designed the input as a nostalgic rotary dial phone interface.

2. Autonomous Calling: The bot rings nearby pubs sequentially, using text-to-speech to talk to venue staff in real time: "This is an automated booking service. Do you currently have room for [X] people?"

3. Direct Navigation upon Confirmation: If a place is full, it politely hangs up and immediately dials the next best option. The moment a venue confirms, the screen updates with directions, and all you have to do is walk in and raise a glass.

Winning the Grand Prix at Mashup Awards 9

Co-created with my friend Tomoaki Akitomi, we submitted the project to Mashup Awards 9, one of Japan's largest web and API development hackathons. Out of roughly 500 entries from across the country, it took home the Grand Prix (Overall Winner).
