Morse Notification
Read your notifications through your leg
An Android app that translates incoming notification text into Morse code vibrations, allowing you to check the contents of notifications on the go without pulling out your phone.
The goal was to read incoming messages purely through the tactile sensation on your thigh while keeping your phone tucked inside your pocket.
How It Works
The app reads incoming notifications using Android's NotificationListenerService. For Japanese text, it extracts the phonetic readings using the morphological analyzer Kuromoji and converts them into Wabun (Japanese) Morse code.
Using It in Practice
I didn't actually know Morse code when I built this, but after just one day of use, I could already recognize "・ー・ ー" (RT; retweet). Even without formally studying Morse code, I suspect that simply feeling the patterns over time might train you to understand them intuitively.
