Blind Spot Visualization
Visualizing vehicle blind spots using volumetric light and shadow
A 3D simulation designed to intuitively show children the dangers of vehicle blind spots by placing a point light source at the driver's eye level, casting their line of sight outward as beams of light.
Shadows Define the Blind Spots
In a smoke-filled space, light shining outward from inside the car only extends where it passes through the windows or reflects off the mirrors. Any areas obstructed by the vehicle's pillars or body panels cast deep, dark shadows, making the invisible danger zones where kids shouldn't play immediately obvious.
Physical Prototype Using a Toy Car
I also tested this physically by putting a miniature LED inside a toy car and placing it in a fog-filled container to recreate the effect. It would be amazing to demonstrate this at full scale with a real car inside a school gym.

It can be difficult for kids to grasp whether a driver can actually see them through words or diagrams alone. This educational approach replaces that abstract concept with the straightforward physics of light and shadow.
