Playing with Tempescope, part 1: stuff a diorama into the tempescope

Something I have wanted to try with Tempescope for a while.

First, I picked up a model-railway diorama (Building Collection: Small Factory C2):

The Building Collection series. There are plenty of other exciting dioramas in this series.

¥920 at Yodobashi, ¥866 on Amazon.

Assemble it. Everything comes pre-painted, so it is easy.

Adorable.

As it is, it will not fit inside a Tempescope (100mm × 100mm), so: cut it.

Draw a line and cut

Cut. An acrylic cutter goes through it easily.

The layout needs a little adjusting too.

And into the Tempescope it goes. A perfect fit.

Cute.

Endlessly cute.

Looks great from the side, too.

Looks great from behind.

Let's bring out the clouds.

Gives off an early morning mist vibe.

Hardworking folks at dawn.

Let's try sunset.

Suddenly feels nostalgic.

Let's make it rain.

The raindrops are enormous- I didn't think about that one...

Conclusions:

• a diorama in a box is lovely.
• clouds: yes.
• rain: breaks the sense of scale.

For a diorama, it could make sense to think about "scaled" raindrops.
